Whatever became of the Pipe Yards ?

Circa 2010, the Pipe Yards were one of the most epic spots to chill and paint in the West. It was a virtual playground of empty walls and pipes for days. IT hosted writers, homeless camps, 2am bonfires, weekend bbq's and hella random shit. You never knew who you'd pop into down there. Eventually word got out and everybody within 100 miles came out to paint this spot. It was a layup for graffiti hunters. You were assured fresh flicks of multiples pieces with each visit. Slowly over time the pipes started disappearing and the yard became smaller... now there are no pipes. The crane is gone. Nothing remains but a giant dirt pile and some weeds. The graffiti has even gone to shit. Nobody goes there anymore.. It's a damn shame when a yard disappears.

Pipe Yards PT 17

Back to the pipe yards...yeah, we're milking this bad boy for all it's worth. As long as the pipes are still there, we'll be flicking them ! But act soon, they're disappearing rapidly. We can remember back in 2010 when nobody that didn't live in West Oakland wrote there. Now every writer and their momma has to come out to paint here.

Pipe Yards pt 2 - the redux

Man, shit has been hopping over there. It used to be you could rock a piece in these yards and it would run for years. Well, the word is out on this spot and it seems to be getting a new face lift every week. Don't sleep or your favorite piece will be gone tomorrow. Here's some new bangers from the pipe yards.
